How to Clean up After a Pet Snail?

I have tetra fish and I've been keeping aquarium snails with them. I've noticed that the snails are very messy. They've produced a large amount of waste and are disasterous to the plants in the aquarium! How can I clean up their mess without doing the entire tank? I just cleaned the gravel yesterday and have already noticed a huge amount of waste from the snails. I'd appreciate any tips and suggestions.
